Between January and October 2024, Turkey sales abroad reached US$ 2,730,000, marking a 38.2% increase from the previous year, with 90.3% of those sales to Ecuador. Other countries like Bolivia and Cuba also imported turkey, with the majority of exports coming from Lima. The average export value was US$ 273,000, with peaks in July and August. Peru's Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation anticipates the sale of around 1.64 million turkeys for Christmas and New Year, with 98% coming from local production and 2% imported. These turkeys are a nutritious choice, being lean and rich in proteins, B vitamins, and essential minerals.
