Turkey is the world's leading producer of cherries and has seen a 4% increase in exports, reaching $209 million in the first seven months of 2024. The country exports to 55 countries, with the European region being the largest buyer. Germany is the top buyer with $114 million, followed by Russia with $41 million. Turkey's annual cherry harvest is 736 thousand tons, with the Aegean Region producing 260 thousand tons annually. The country's export target has been increased from $250 million to $300 million. Turkey is also looking to expand its cherry exports to Asian-Far East markets, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and India. The country is using projects like We Know the Pesticides We Use and Mediterranean Fruit Fly-Free Cherry Production to ensure quality cherries without residue.
