The Muğla Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in Turkey is making significant strides in enhancing the production of turmeric and ginger through the Medical Aromatic Plants (MAP) Projects. By offering a 75 percent grant for the tubers provided to farmers, the initiative has successfully increased annual production to 20 tons of turmeric and 5 tons of ginger, effectively eliminating the need for turmeric imports. The introduction of tissue culture as a cultivation method aims to further improve production efficiency. The health benefits of these spices, such as their antioxidant properties and their role in improving joint pain, digestion, and immunity, are also emphasized, highlighting their potential in preventing various health issues.
