The Tan Hop cooperative in Tuyen Quang province, Vietnam, has seen a threefold increase in economic efficiency and improved income for its members by specializing in the production of organic temperate vegetables such as cabbage, kohlrabi, and zucchini. The cooperative has been recognized with three stars under the One Product Per Commune Program (OCOP) for its cabbage, zucchini, and Khau Trang pear. The products are sold in local supermarkets and fetch prices double that of non-OCOP standards, contributing to an annual turnover of about 1 billion VND. The cooperative has adopted organic farming practices, avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and maintains detailed product traceability. The OCOP program is seen as a key driver in valuing local agricultural products and enhancing their marketability, leading to increased economic value and improved living standards for the local community.
