UAE triples meat purchases from Brazil

The United Arab Emirates rose from fifth place among the largest buyers of Brazilian beef from January to July last year to third place in the ranking in the same period this year, according to data released this Monday (12) by the Brazilian Association of Meatpackers (Abrafrigo). The Arab country imported 106.48 thousand tons of the national product in the first seven months of this year, compared to only 34.12 thousand in the same months of 2023, with a growth of 212%. Revenue was US$ 484.8 million against US$ 152.1 million in the same comparison, an increase of 218%. The Emirates bought beef from Brazil for US$ 4,550 per ton in this period this year and for US$ 4,460 last year. Abrafrigo figures show that, overall, Brazilian beef exports, including processed and fresh products, totaled 1.7 million tons from January to July, up 35% over the same months in 2023.
