Prices for malting barley in the UK are at historically high levels due to a smaller harvest and limited global availability. Total global barley production is forecasted to be the lowest since 2018/2019, and global ending stocks are projected to be the lowest since the early 1980s. Despite concerns about the cost of living crisis, demand for barley from brewers in the UK is expected to remain strong. Supply of premium malting barley will be very tight this season.
