In the early months of 2023, Ukraine experienced a notable shift in its swine trade. Importantly, the country imported 163 tons of live pigs from Denmark in January and February, valued at $879,000, marking a significant increase from the same period last year when no such imports were recorded. Conversely, the period saw an absence of live pig exports, contrasting with the early 2022 period when 141.5 tons were exported. As of January 1, 2023, Ukraine's pig population stood at 5 million heads, highlighting the importance of these import and export activities in the country's swine sector.
