Ukraine has been flooded with record amounts of imported pork: from which countries is it being shipped

The import of fresh and frozen pork into Ukraine has sharply increased to the level of 2022. Over eight months, 14.9 thousand tons of meat were imported into the Ukrainian market, which is 7.8 times more than the previous year. Analysts from the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club noted that only in August of this year, 4.6 thousand tons of meat were imported, which is 48% more than in July. At the same time, the largest volumes - 7.7 thousand tons - were recorded in July and August. According to experts, by the end of 2025, pork imports will amount to at least 25 thousand tons, with the main suppliers being Denmark, Poland, and the Netherlands. "The main reason for the active import was the reduction of the pig population in the winter to 4.5 million heads, mainly in household farms.
