Ukraine imported more pork in seven months of 2025 than in the entire year of 2024.

Throughout July, there was an increase in import activity among operators of the Ukrainian pork market, according to the analytical department of the Association "Pig Breeders of Ukraine." The reasons for this change can be found further on.

According to preliminary data from customs statistics, in July, the import of chilled and frozen pork amounted to almost 3.1 thousand tons. This is 75% higher than the month before, and the last time such a level of import activity was observed was in 2022.

"The heightened interest of meat market operators in imported raw materials was caused by the further increase in the price of Ukrainian pork against the backdrop of falling prices for foreign pork. In July, the seasonal reduction in supply combined with a general decrease in the volume of pork production, so the average price for live pigs of slaughter conditions amounted to 94.68 UAH/kg with VAT or 2.27 USD in currency equivalent, which is 2% higher than in June. On the other hand, at the beginning of July, the heat wave somewhat weakened consumer appetites in the EU market, so many Commonwealth countries noted a decrease..."
