The European Union imported a total of 19.75 million tons of meal, including sunflower, soybean, and rapeseed, in the 2023/24 marketing year, marking a 1% increase from the previous season, as reported by the European Commission. Despite the overall slight increase, there was an 18% rise in sunflower meal imports and a decrease in soybean and rapeseed meal imports by 2% and 3% respectively. Ukraine's share as a supplier of these products also increased, contributing to 11% of all import batches and supplying 2.1 million tons, up from 5% in the 2021/22 marketing year. There was a significant increase in the import of meal from Ukraine, with soybean meal imports increasing by 33%, rapeseed meal by 2.1-fold, and sunflower meal by 14%.
