Almost half of Vietnam's quail eggs are exported to Japan. However, in recent years, bird flu has caused significant damage to Vietnam's quail. The largest producers of quail eggs in the EU are France, Italy and Spain, but their volumes against Asia are small. For example, in France, about 400,000 laying quails are used, which can produce 80-90 million eggs a year. Even fewer are produced in other EU countries (no official data). Therefore, Ukraine and Russia with annual volumes of 400-600 million quail eggs are probably the largest European producers. In general, quail meat is more popular in the EU market than eggs, while in most Asian countries.
