Production of sunflower oil in Ukraine in 2026 may reach about 4 million tons, which is less than the pre-war figures of 5–6 million tons, but will be sufficient to cover the country's domestic needs. This was reported by the head of the analytical department of the Ukrainian Club of Agricultural Business (UKAB) Svitlana Lytvyn. According to her, Ukraine's domestic need is 400–500 thousand tons, so domestic supply will be sufficient, but the reduction in production decreases the export potential and the ability to attract additional funds into the country. The decrease in sunflower yield is associated with the occupation of part of the southern territories, where this crop was traditionally grown. In 2024–2025, the volumes of sunflower seed collection were 11 and 10 million tons respectively, whereas before the war they reached 16 million tons.
