Ukraine's share in the import of corn to the European Union has fallen to 17%

Ukraine is losing its main corn market due to the delay in the harvest, as by mid-October, 4.9 million tons of corn had been harvested compared to 13.2 million tons in the same period of 2024. This is reported by Spike Brokers. Ukraine's share in the European Union's corn imports has decreased to 17%. By October 13, Europe had purchased 4.3 million tons of corn on external markets. The largest suppliers were Brazil with 2.4 million tons, followed by the United States with 900,000 tons, and then Ukraine with 720,000 tons. The yield of Ukrainian corn is 20% higher compared to last year. Currently, the average yield is 5.5 tons per hectare – in 2024, on a similar area of harvested land, the yield was 4.6 tons. Corn was harvested on 15% of the area sown with this crop. Usually, the first 10 million tons of harvested corn began to put pressure on prices, which had the potential to reduce the price by 5-10%.
