Ukraine has a sufficient number of pear plantings, but only a few farms are able to produce quality pears due to the crop's complexity, according to Vladislav Makarenko, co-owner of the Makosad farm. As a result, Ukraine has been importing pears for several years, and most producers are not considering exporting the fruit. The complexity of pear production has resulted in few farmers in the Chernivtsi region still cultivating the crop, with some having given up due to severe frosts in the past.
