On May 16, 2024, Captain Thammanat Phromphao, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, led a meeting of the Beef Cattle-Buffalo Development Policy Committee to discuss the importation of beef cattle and buffalo from Myanmar. The meeting aimed at making comprehensive decisions on import and export volumes, market maintenance, and regulatory compliance. Measures were agreed upon to address declining beef cattle prices and promote marketing, including the use of animal identification marks and preventing illegal imports. Additionally, a plan to enhance food security for beef cattle was approved to boost production efficiency and reduce costs.
