According to BelOrta - one of the largest cooperative fruit and vegetable exchanges in Belgium, this year's plum harvest will reach a historic record. It will be twice as much as last year's. The unprecedentedly good year for farmers has its explanation. Recently, they have been increasingly betting on varieties that ripen faster, reports the agro portal of the Flemish Information Center for Agriculture and Horticulture VILT. Deputy Minister Kapitanov: Nearly 80% of the frost damage compensation will be paid by the end of the week. This year's total production is estimated at 200,000 kilograms. The varieties that farmers grow bear the common name BelOplum. Ten years ago, there were few plum orchards in the area. Now the situation is changing. We see many new plantings from young companies that sell their plums.
