Uruguay's dairy exports in August saw a 26% year-on-year increase, amounting to $66 million, and a 17% growth in the first eight months of the year, totaling $456 million, as reported by Uruguay XXI. The growth was primarily driven by butter, buttermilk, and whey, while cheese and curd had a negative impact. The main markets for these products were China and Algeria, with 29% share, followed by Brazil and Russia with 15% and 9% respectively. Despite the growth, Uruguay's dairy exports to Brazil saw a decrease, but the increase in sales prices in the foreign market compensated for the 2% drop in volume of dairy products exported.
