Uruguayan harvest exceeds 18% of the area

(By Hébert Dell'Onte, La Mañana, Uruguay) The Rice Producers Association (ACA) which held the inauguration of the 2022/2023 rice harvest on March 6 in Vichadero, Rivera, conducted the first survey of progress harvest which on March 13 reached 18% on the national average. In this harvest, the total area is 159.7 thousand hectares. The harvest analyzed by area reveals that the north, which includes the departments of Artigas and Salto, harvested 33%; the centre, Rivera, Tacuarembó and part of Cerro Largo, 7%; and the east zone, Rocha, Lavalleja, Treinta y Tres and part of Cerro Largo, 7%. The ACA reported that there is “total movement” on the farms, with the northern zone more advanced” than the east and center, which is explained by the “earlier start of harvesting”.
