The European Union imported a record 2.7 million tons of corn from the United States in the first 27 weeks of the current agricultural season, a significant increase from the previous season's 30,981 tons. This makes the EU the 4th largest market for US corn exports, with a 9% share of all shipments, due to poor harvests in Ukraine and the quality and competitiveness of US corn. However, the EU introduced tariffs on US goods, including corn, in response to US tariffs on European steel and aluminum, which is expected to decrease US corn supplies to the EU.
