(Agraria.pe) U.S. imports of fresh fruits and vegetables did not experience major changes in terms of volume in the first half of this year. The total volume grew slightly to about 12.2 million tons. On the other hand, the value of these imports did decline by a few percentage points, to 17.7 billion euros. This is quite notable, given that in all previous years, the value of imports had been increasing to reach 33 billion in 2024. The fact that the value did not fall even more is mainly due to the large increase in the value of U.S. imports of avocados, grapes, and mangoes. The value fell for almost all other more important products, in some cases sharply, such as tomatoes (-17%), peppers (-10%), or cucumbers (-10%).
