US: Peruvian asparagus supply will increase slightly despite shortage of truck drivers

The truck driver shortage in the US continues to affect various aspects of the market, from prices to packaging availability. Over the past week, there has been an occasional shortage of gasoline that has left pumps out of service in parts of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Washington and Oregon. Most sectors are faced with an acute shortage of staff and this is especially true for the retail sector. The hot weather in the western US and Canada is affecting the already limited supply of labor in the horticultural sector, as working hours have to be limited due to the extremely high temperatures. This has consequences for the supply and quality of products, which could have an adverse effect on market prices. The supply of Peruvian asparagus is expected to increase slightly.
