Florida Senator Rick Scott has requested an investigation into Chinese garlic production methods due to concerns about unsanitary conditions and potential threats to U.S. national security, public health, and economic prosperity. China is the world's largest exporter of garlic, and the United States has previously ruled that China dumped garlic into the U.S. at below cost prices. Scott cited the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 and plans to introduce the SEWAGE GARLIC Imports Act and the SEWAGE GARLIC Imports Tariff Act to address concerns over the cultivation and safety of garlic produced in China.
