The United States is set to reach a record high in sugar production, projected at 9.49 million short tons for the 2024/25 season, due to strong yields from both beet and sugarcane crops. This prediction, made by the USDA, does not yet account for the potential impact of hurricanes Helene and Milton on Florida, the country's second-largest sugarcane producer. Despite concerns, sugar market participants do not anticipate significant damage to the crops from the hurricanes. This record production is expected to decrease import levels by 33% to 2.56 million short tons, leading to a comfortable supply level with an estimated stocks-to-use ratio of 14.3%.
