In the December report on grain production for 2025/26 MR, FAS USDA experts increased the forecast of global barley production compared to November estimates by 3.12 million tons to 152.94 million tons, which is 9.67 million tons more than the previous season's figure (143.27 million tons in 2024/25 MR and 143.5 million tons in 2023/24 MR). In particular, for Canada, the forecast was increased by 0.5 million tons to 9.73 (8.14) million tons, for the EU by 1 million tons to 56 (50.29) million tons, for Australia by 0.5 million tons to 15.5 (13.27) million tons, and for Russia by 0.1 million tons to 18.6 (16.25) million tons. For Ukraine, the barley production forecast remained at 5.9 million tons (5.8 million tons in 2024/25 MR and 6.35 million tons in 2023/24 MR).
