Among Vietnam's leading agricultural export items, shrimp is expected to be the most affected by U.S. countervailing duties. In the first seven months of this year, shrimp exports are still growing well. According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Processors and Exporters (VASEP), shrimp remains the top export item in the seafood industry, reaching 2.49 billion USD in the first seven months, an increase of 23.6% compared to the same period in 2024. The United States is still one of the leading markets for Vietnamese shrimp. In the first half of this year, shrimp exports to this market reached 341 million USD, an increase of 13% compared to the same period in 2024. However, in the last months of this year, shrimp exports to the United States will face significant difficulties and challenges due to countervailing duties.
