In 2023, the European Union experienced a decline in coffee imports, with a 6.8% decrease from internal markets and a 10% drop from external markets. Despite this overall reduction, Vietnam has solidified its position as a key coffee supplier to the EU, ranking second in volume and third in value, even though its exports to the EU slightly decreased. The country's Robusta coffee remains in high demand among global coffee roasters and grinders, particularly in Europe. This demand is attributed to Vietnam's unique market position, as other Robusta-producing regions are yet to start their harvest season. Consequently, Vietnamese coffee export prices have risen, and it is anticipated that Vietnamese coffee farmers and companies will have sold all their coffee by the end of April, marking a first in 30 years.
