It is worth noting that from September to November, heavy rains and floods hit the northern and central regions, causing losses to summer-autumn rice and main rice crops in these provinces. Compared to the summer-autumn rice in the previous year, the 2025 summer-autumn rice yield decreased by nearly 270,000 tons, with main rice crops suffering total losses on approximately 40,000 hectares. Moreover, the livestock industry was affected by the outbreak of African swine fever in the third quarter, resulting in the death or culling of nearly 1.27 million pigs (about 4.8% of the total pig population). This outbreak is considered the largest since 2019. Additionally, the heavy rains and floods in the northern and central provinces caused the death or displacement by floodwaters of approximately 123,000 livestock and 7.4 million poultry.
