Specifically, according to statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in October 2025, Vietnam exported a total of 19,430 tons of various types of pepper, including 16,464 tons of black pepper and 2,966 tons of white pepper. The total export value of pepper reached 129.5 million USD, a decrease of 5.2% in export volume and 5% in export value compared to the previous month, but an increase of 5.1% in export volume and 7.7% in export value compared to the same period in 2024.
As of the end of October 2025, Vietnam had exported a total of 206,427 tons of various types of pepper, including 176,577 tons of black pepper and 29,850 tons of white pepper. The total export value reached 1.39 billion USD, with black pepper export value at 1.15 billion USD and white pepper export value at 244 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 5.9%, but the export value still increased by 25.4%. The average export price for black pepper in the first ten months was 6,628 USD/ton, and for white pepper, it was 8,683 USD/ton, up 36.6% and 34.4% respectively compared to the same period in 2024.
The United States remains Vietnam's largest export market for pepper, with an export volume of 44,262 tons, accounting for 21.4%, a decrease of 29.4% compared to the same period in 2024. Other major export markets include the UAE, China, India, Germany, Thailand, Poland, Turkey, Egypt, and South Korea.
In terms of imports, as of October 2025, Vietnam imported a total of 37,783 tons of pepper, including 32,226 tons of black pepper and 5,557 tons of white pepper, with a total import value of nearly 237 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the import volume increased by 32.1%, and the import value increased by 804%. Brazil is Vietnam's largest pepper supplier, with an import volume of 18,481 tons, an increase of 105% year-on-year, accounting for 48.9%. Next are Cambodia, Indonesia, and other markets.
The Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association stated that Vietnam's pepper exports still maintain the world's first position, but the industry is facing significant competitive pressure from Brazil. Data from Brazil's foreign trade statistics platform (Comexstat) shows that as of the end of October 2025, Brazil exported a total of 70,198 tons of pepper, with an export value of 435.7 million USD, an increase of 32.5% in export volume and 89.7% in export value compared to the same period last year.
As of the end of October 2025, Vietnam's cinnamon export volume reached 99,463 tons, with a total export value of 249.5 million USD, an increase of 25.1% in export volume and 13.2% in export value compared to the same period in 2024. The main export markets include India, the United States, Bangladesh, the UAE, and China.
In terms of cinnamon imports, in the first ten months of this year, Vietnam imported 3,574 tons of cinnamon, with an import value of 8.6 million USD, a decrease of 3.7% in import volume and 4.6% in import value compared to the same period last year. The main sources of Vietnam's cinnamon imports are Indonesia and China.
