Vietnam-Sourced Shrimp Processing Products Subject to Inspection Order

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it will apply a mandatory inspection to shrimp and other seafood products containing more than 30% shrimp imported from three Vietnamese manufacturers starting June 30. The mandatory inspection system requires importers to prove the safety of imported food products that have repeatedly detected harmful substances or been found non-compliant before they can be brought into the country. This measure is being implemented to strengthen the safety management responsibility of importers and ensure the safety of imported food products, following repeated non-compliance with doxycycline, a veterinary drug, in seafood products primarily using Vietnamese shrimp as the main ingredient.
