China has approved the import of Vietnamese passion fruit from two overland border crossings as part of a pilot scheme, with durian imports soon following. This comes as Vietnam's passion fruit production and export value have seen significant growth, positioning the country as the fourth largest exporter of the fruit. The temporary approval of passion fruit could be expanded to include more border crossings if the fruit meets China's quality standards. Meanwhile, the process of officially exporting Vietnamese durians to China is nearing completion, after previously facing restrictions on border trade.
