Vietnam's longan exports are projected to reach a value of US$14 million in 2023, marking a 1.5 times year-on-year increase and making it the country's second largest fruit export after durian. The primary markets for this fruit are China, Australia, Thailand, and Japan. The Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association is optimistic that by improving standards, Vietnamese longan can effectively compete with Thai longan in the expansive Chinese market. Currently, longan is among the top five fruit trees in Vietnam, with a cultivation area of 80,000 hectares and an annual yield of around 600,000 tons.
