In the third quarter, the export value of aquatic products rose by nearly 13% year-on-year to 2.76 billion USD, with notable increases in pangasius, shrimp, crab, and shelled molluscs. Over the first nine months, pangasius exports grew by 8% to 1.46 billion USD, and shrimp exports increased by 10.5% to nearly 2.8 billion USD. While squid and octopus exports slightly declined, tuna exports rose by 16% to 715 million USD. Crabs and deep-sea swimming crabs saw a 66% increase, mainly due to exports to China. VASEP forecasts the export value of aquatic products to reach 9.5 billion USD in 2024, with significant contributions from shrimp, pangasius, tuna, and squid and octopus.
