(Jeju=Yonhap News) Reporter Go Seong-sik = Jeju Province announced on the 8th that it conducted a joint inspection with the administrative office and autonomous police team in Seoul's Garak and Gwangju wholesale agricultural markets over the past two days, 4-5, and seized 235 kg of 'non-standard persimmons.' The main violations detected were the shipment of 'extra small' persimmons with a diameter of less than 45 mm and 'extra large' persimmons with a diameter of 77 mm or more, which violated the product specifications stipulated in the 'Jeju Province Persimmon Production and Distribution Ordinance.' Jeju Province and others had previously detected a total of 5,230 kg of non-standard persimmons in two previous joint inspections of the wholesale markets. The inspection of the volume in major wholesale markets showed that the overall quality of persimmons was at a good level. An official from Jeju Province said, "Compared to last year, the price of persimmons, which had been maintained at a high level, has recently turned downward," and added, "To maintain price stability, quality management throughout the entire production and distribution stages is more important than ever." koss@yna.co.kr
