The Volgograd region produced 1.146 million tons of vegetables in 2024, an increase from the previous year, despite challenges like return frosts and dry weather. The region led in the production of borscht set and saw almost 20 thousand more tons of potato production compared to the previous year, with a total of 190.3 thousand tons. Despite the difficulties, the harvest figures for 2024 were superior to the previous year. The operational headquarters and an interdepartmental working group oversaw the situation, allowing for adjustments and the implementation of optimal cultivation technologies. The region also focused on increasing production in the collective sector and investing in melioration, which led to the introduction of about 6 thousand hectares of irrigation annually.
