Wando County "Advancement of seaweed and abalone-centered aquaculture industry"

The cultivation of a climate crisis response-oriented aquaculture industry centered on seaweed and abalone is being promoted in Wando County, Jeollanam-do. Wando County is the ‘largest seaweed production area in the nation’; last year, it produced 380,000 tons of seaweed, accounting for 71% of the national total, 320,000 tons of seaweed accounting for 56% of the national total, and over 120,000 tons of laver, accounting for 23%. In particular, it has a stable marine environment, abundant nutrients, and a production base and accumulated aquaculture technology suitable for seaweed production, as the southern and western seas meet in the Dadohae Sea area.
