The Washington Apple Commission (WAC) has secured $7 million from the USDA's new Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP) to boost international market opportunities for Washington apples. Launched in November 2023, RAPP aims to expand US food and agricultural exports to regions including Africa, Latin America, and South and South-East Asia, with a total of $1.2 billion allocated over several years. This funding will support 66 commodity groups and complement the existing Market Access Program (MAP). WAC intends to use the funds over five years to enhance global brand awareness and consumer loyalty for Washington apples.
