TANGA: The Regional Commissioner of Tanga, Ambassador Bk Batilda Burian, has stated that the region will continue with the responsibility of managing environmental conservation, water sources, protection, and the implementation of the Government's directive to ensure that every year its councils plant 1,500,000 trees. Dr. Burian said this while speaking with journalists and officials of the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) at her office in the city. She said it is not just about planting trees but also includes monitoring water sources and in all areas that need to be protected and ensuring that all activities being carried out are environmentally friendly. “For sustainable development, we must look at economic, social, and environmental pillars and without this combined harmony we may reach a point as a nation where we have suffered the consequences,” said Dr. Burian.
