Norwegian seafood exports faced a 2% decline in the first half of the year, totaling NOK 80.6 billion, primarily due to falling salmon prices in June. Despite this, it was the second-best half-year in value terms. Key factors included weakened purchasing power in major markets, increased global competition, and biological challenges in salmon production. Notable trends included record high prices for fresh trout fillets and live king crab, significant growth in exports to Vietnam, and a decline in exports to China. The mackerel market saw a decrease due to lower landings, while prawn exports had their strongest first half-year since 2000. The USA emerged as a significant market for king and snow crabs, and Poland experienced the highest value growth in seafood exports.
