After rains had hit the wheat-producing regions of the South of the Country and worried farmers, the steadier weather at the end of October left agents more optimistic. This is what researchers from the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) point out. According to the institute, the recent climatic conditions have favored the development of wheat crops, which are already heading towards the maturation phase. As for prices, a survey by Cepea shows that the values continue to fall, pressured by the advance of the harvest and the good productivity prospects in Brazil, in addition to the large crop in Argentina, the international quotations, and the lower dollar. On October 25, the average price of wheat traded in Rio Grande do Sul was R$ 1,138.41/t, a drop of 9.6% compared to September 25 and 11.7% compared to October 24, in real terms (deflation by IGP-DI).
