According to the European Commission, the EU's (EU27) poultry meat exports fell by 12% to 1,126,000 tonnes in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the same period last year, according to the latest data from the Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI). Exports of poultry meat to the Congo (+ 23%), Ukraine (+ 15%), the Republic of Benin, and Ghana (+ 14%) increased, while exports of poultry meat to the Philippines (-60%) decreased. Almost three-quarters of imports came from Brazil and Thailand, with a total of 281,000 tonnes of poultry meat coming from the two countries, up 2% from the same period last year. The volume of poultry meat from China increased by almost 13%, but at the same time, it decreased by 12% in the first nine months of this year. According to the data of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the export of poultry meat in Hungary increased by 32%, amounting to almost 168 thousand tons in the first eight years of 2021 compared to the same period of the previous year.
