Due to losses lasting many years, farmers in U Minh district quit their jobs quite a lot. Particularly, Tran Van Thoi district is currently raising 120 hectares. In 2022, the whole district of Tran Van Thoi, Ca Mau province has 120 ha of scorpion farming, with 412 farming households. According to Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Chairman of Tran Van Thoi District Farmers' Association: "Previously, the area for raising scads in the district was more than 300 ha/year, however, from 2018 to 2021, the price of fish dropped sharply, people farming has no profit, even capital loss, so this year the area is narrow, only 120 ha, with 412 farming households. At present, traders buy fish at the pond for 60,000-90,000 VND/kg (depending on the size).
