KOSTANAY REGION This year, Kostanay agrarians are giving preference to priority crops—oilseeds, legumes, cereals, and forage crops, reports the 24.kz news agency. Over the past 10 years, oilseed cultivation in the Kostanay region has doubled. This season, their sowing will increase by 13 thousand hectares, totaling 887 thousand hectares. "In accordance with the 'roadmap' until 2028, we will continue to work on the further phased reduction of grain areas with a simultaneous increase in the areas of priority crops," noted Deputy Head of the Regional Department of Agriculture Gaziz Akhmetchin. According to the Department of Agriculture, in 2026, spring sowing is planned to be carried out on an area of more than 5.1 million hectares. Over 4 million hectares will be sown with grains and legumes, with wheat occupying about 3.36 million hectares.
