In May 2024, the Biobío Region of Chile experienced a significant growth of 20.5% in wheat milling, reaching 14,634 tons, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics. This growth was attributed to the increased processing of wheat products and by-products. However, overall wheat milling in the country decreased by 5.0% due to lower production of by-products and wheat products. From January to May 2024, the Biobío Region processed 69,522 tons of wheat milling, a 11.2% increase, while the country processed 781,638 tons, a 1.3% increase.
