The Singapore Food Authority has announced 'Food Regulations Amendment No. 3', which includes new provisions on microbial safety requirements for non-ready-to-eat foods. The amendment aims to supplement existing regulations that only apply to ready-to-eat foods by establishing standards for non-ready-to-eat foods. Companies exporting oysters and cockles to Singapore must adhere to these new regulations, which will take effect from March 4, 2024, by strengthening hygiene and safety management, as failure to meet the standards will prohibit exportation to Singapore.
