The article provides an overview of the pricing and cultivation of the expensive durian variety, Black Thorn, in Vietnam. Despite being the most expensive durian in the country, its prices have seen a significant decrease this year, being 2-3 times more expensive than other varieties like Musang King and Monthong but still 40% lower than the previous year. The article highlights the challenges and risks associated with unplanned durian planting, especially with the increase in durian planting areas in Dak Lak province, leading to concerns of oversupply and market decline. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recommends planning for concentrated durian production to ensure quality management and meet export standards, addressing the risks of financial losses and the competition in the Chinese market.
