Spain's wine consumption has seen a slight increase of 1.4% year-on-year as of May 2024, reaching 9.83 million hectoliters, according to the Spanish Wine Interprofessional and the Spanish Wine Market Observatory. This is the best consumption figure since October 2022 and indicates a slight recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, though still short of pre-pandemic levels. Wine consumption in Spain's main sales channel, Food, has seen a growth of 4%, while in the Hospitality sector, it has experienced a decrease of 3.1%. Overall, global wine consumption is estimated to have decreased by 2.6% in 2023, according to the International Organization of Vine and Wine.
