Australian wine exports saw a 10% decrease in volume and a 10% decrease in average value in the 2021–22 financial year, leading to a 19% decline in value due to a significant reduction in exports to mainland China. However, exports to the rest of the world increased by 5% in value, driven by growth in premium price points. Still red wine accounted for 92% of the value of exports at $10 or more per litre and was the growth driver for this price segment. The UK is the biggest destination for still red wine exports, but the United States is closing in. The volume share of still red wine fell from 57% to 53%, while the still white wine share increased from 38% to 43%.
