Most people leave their raised beds unattended in winter, although this can cause a lot of harm to the soil life, and a weaker yield can be expected in the next season. Raised beds are becoming increasingly popular in home gardens in Hungary as well. They make sense especially where the soil is of poorer quality, and thus we can create a small "productive" island in it. Many people forget about the raised bed when winter arrives, although there is still something to do with it. Not to mention that we can also sow plants in it for winter, winter peas for example can make excellent use of the winter precipitation, and it starts to develop very early in the spring. If the raised bed has already been harvested and we want to leave it empty for the cold season, we still need to do a few basic things with it.
