With over 30 years of validity, the national program against the fruit fly is being updated, and now establishments are required to comply with new regulations.
Created in 1994 by the now-defunct Argentine Institute of Plant Health and Quality (IASCAV), the National Program for the Control and Eradication of Fruit Flies (PROCEM) will undergo a series of changes within the framework of a necessary update, in line with international requirements, but also internal ones. From now on, it will be called the "National Fruit Fly Program," but it will retain its characteristic initials. The name change, in truth, is anecdotal. As stipulated by resolution 137/2026, published today by the Senasa in the Official Gazette, this new regulatory framework unifies more than twenty norms, updates definitions, and introduces new concepts.
