Oleksandr Duda, head of the Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers, told about it during the GRAIN STORAGE FORUM 2024. In 2022-2023, the rate of growth of the acreage under amaranth slowed down a bit, for obvious reasons, but this year Oleksandr Duda predicts a considerable increase, although there will be only 5% of organic amaranth. "In general, 90% of the amaranth grown in Ukraine is de facto organic," Oleksandr Duda notes. Flour, oil, cereals, bakery, confectionery and pasta products, fast breakfasts, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics are made from amaranth. Phyto-tea is made from the leaves of this plant, amaranth is also used as fodder for farm and domestic animals. "Amaranth seeds are the source of 80% of products for deep processing. Now there are already about 100 amaranth products in Ukraine," adds Oleksandr Duda.
